Bourbon Country
It was just recently announced that the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau is working collaboratively with seven tourism regions including the Kentucky Department of Tourism & Travel to increase travel to our state under the united brand of “Bourbon Country” for promotional purposes. This marketing initiative started in Louisville in 2007 with the opening of Louisville’s Visitor Information Center. Over the past few years, the Bourbon Country brand has resonated with locals and visitors as Louisville has worked to aggressively market and brand the region. The Bourbon Country brand has been licensed to all of our regional tourism partners and we are working collaboratively to attract more tourism to our region.
Over the past 4+ years we have hosted hundreds of travel writers who have experienced Bourbon Country first hand. The results have been tremendous as we have benefited from the many exciting stories written about all there is to do and experience in Bourbon Country. The essence of Bourbon Country is that it is designed to tap into your five senses and is inclusive of attractions beyond distillery tours such as the beautiful horse forms on your way to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail or the attractions along Louisville’s Museum Row. Once guests have toured distilleries by day, they can test their new found bourbon knowledge with an authentic culinary and cocktail experience by night. From Louisville’s Urban Bourbon Trail to Lexington’s growing distillery district to the many one-of-kind Kentucky style dining options in the towns in between, a bourbon infused experience is waiting. And there’s more to come. Just recently we are seeing heavy interest from micro distilleries in both Louisville & Lexington and other towns which once opened will only add to a visitors overall vacation experience in addition to new restaurants opening with a commitment to sharing our state’s bourbon heritage as well.
In 2012, Bourbon Country will release its first Bourbon Country Visitors Guide and the Bourbon Country.com web site will be updated to include all members of the Bourbon Country region. Our main goal moving forward is to do the best marketing we can to drive as much tourism as we can to Bourbon Country which will stimulate job growth and increase visitor spending. So no matter when where a tourist enters Bourbon Country we are thrilled to welcome them and hope they have a great time here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
