2009-2010 Destination Marketing Plan
The LCVB is a tourism economic development agency and as such will do all that we can to grow Louisville’s economy through tourism. Especially in this difficult economic period we are in right now it is vitally important we adapt to the changing economic climate and remain flexible to capitalize on any new trends that likely will develop.
So on July 20th the LCVB launched its 2009/2010 Destination Marketing Plan. I encourage you to read the document thoroughly as it provides specific detail as to our marketing and sales strategies this coming fiscal year. You can view it by clicking here.
As I stated earlier this plan could change depending upon how the economy responds. That’s why we decided not to print it, instead the plan will be adapted as the business climate dictates with the online plan being updated as needed. Though this plan is flexible it still embraces the five governing initiatives that are outlined in our five-year strategic plan. Those initiatives are:
1. Increase brand awareness of Louisville as a destination and resulting visitation from individual travelers
2. Generate visitation from groups to Louisville
3. Secure resources to achieve the mission and objectives
4. Build community support for tourism and the LCVB
5. Lead the effort to encourage product development and infrastructure improvements that are consistent with the CVB’s mission and the destination brand.
Aside from building upon the momentum we have developed over the past 3+ years with the meetings, convention and group motorcoach market, the LCVB has outlined several new “key” initiatives that are consistent with the direction of our strategic plan. I strongly encourage you to read about these initiatives in pages 30-35 in our Destination Marketing Plan. They are:
1. Green Louisville
2. Bourbon Country
3. Regional Drive Market Campaign
4. Advancing the Social Media Revolution
5. Destination Branding
The LCVB staff and the nine members of its Commission clearly understand our purpose for being which is stated in our mission (The mission of the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau is to position Louisville as a premier meetings, conventions and leisure destination for the economic growth of our community). We understand the importance of our work more than ever and will do all that is within our power to generate significant revenues for Louisville, retain jobs and build for the future. Please help us by being a supporter of tourism!
